Position Summary

The Multi Care Health System Neurology Department is seeking a BE/BC Neuro Hospitalist to join its thriving Neuroscience Institute.

This opportunity offers excellent departmental collegiality with eighteen Neurology providers, several with subspecialty practices. Physicians enjoy strong clinical support, access to advanced technology, and opportunities to pursue areas of clinical interest while helping expand access to high-quality neurological care throughout the region.

The Neuro Hospitalist is a key member of the inpatient neuroscience care team, providing expert consultation and management of neurologic conditions in hospitalized patients. Working exclusively in the inpatient setting, this physician serves patients with a wide range of neurologic disorders, including stroke, seizures, encephalopathy, demyelinating diseases, and neuroinfectious conditions.

Shift: Day
Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week, including weekend rotation coverage

Location: Tacoma/Puget Sound region or Spokane, Washington

Essential Functions
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage hospitalized patients with acute or complex neurologic conditions
  • Provide inpatient consultation services across medical, surgical, and ICU units
  • Interpret neuroimaging and diagnostic studies, including CT, MRI, EEG, lumbar punctures, and laboratory testing
  • Participate in rapid response events, stroke alerts, and time-sensitive interventions
  • Collaborate with intensivists, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation specialists, and care coordination teams
  • Guide transitions of care, including discharge planning, rehabilitation referrals, and outpatient follow-up
  • Document clinical encounters accurately and maintain compliance with institutional and regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and continuing education activities
Requirements
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology at time of employment
  • Stroke specialty training preferred
  • Washington State medical license by time of employment
  • DEA registration, NPI, and prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
