Jefferson Health is seeking an accomplished Gastroenterologist with expertise in Barrett's esophagus to serve as Physician and Medical Director of the Barrett's Esophagus Program in Philadelphia.
This is an opportunity for a physician who wants to do more than join an established clinical practice. The Medical Director will have the opportunity to lead and grow Jefferson's Barrett's Esophagus Program, care for a large cohort of patients across the spectrum of Barrett's disease, advance therapeutic and diagnostic approaches, participate in clinical research, and educate the next generation of physicians.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in Barrett's esophagus, advanced endoscopic imaging and therapies, along with a strong interest in program development, academic medicine, research, education and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Lead & Grow the Barrett's Esophagus ProgramThe Medical Director will play an important role in the continued development and expansion of Jefferson's Barrett's Esophagus services.
Key responsibilities include:Lead and grow the Barrett's Esophagus Program
Provide expert clinical care for patients with Barrett's esophagus and associated disorders
Manage a large cohort of patients across all stages of Barrett's care
Develop comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary specialists
Help expand and enhance Jefferson's Barrett's esophagus services
Advance clinical quality, innovation and program development
Participate in the continued evolution of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to Barrett's esophagus

Advanced Endoscopic Imaging & TherapyThe successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in advanced endoscopic imaging and therapies and will utilize technologies and techniques including:
Radio frequency Ablation (RFA)
Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC)
Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)
Cryotherapy
Advanced endoscopic imaging
Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
The position provides an opportunity to apply these capabilities to a substantial Barrett's patient population while helping Jefferson continue to advance the diagnosis, surveillance and treatment of these patients.
Multidisciplinary CareThe Barrett's Esophagus Physician and Medical Director will work collaboratively with colleagues across Jefferson to develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients with Barrett's esophagus and related conditions.
This multidisciplinary approach is supported by the broader Jefferson Digestive Health Institute, which provides comprehensive Gastroenterology and Hepatology services, including:
Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
Motility
Liver transplantation
Celiac disease
Inflammatory bowel disease
Complicated polyps
Fatty liver disease
Viral hepatitis
Liver tumors
The breadth of the Digestive Health Institute creates opportunities for clinical collaboration and care of patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions.
Advance Research & Innovation in Barrett's EsophagusAcademic clinical research is an important component of this position.
