Spring 2025 – Orientation Leaders may be asked to attend an optional weekly meeting.
OLs are required to participate in all training days and all program dates. Those dates are the following:
- Training Week: 5/11-5/15 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Orientation Dates (All Day):
- May 19 – Orientation (Tuesday)
- May 21 – Orientation (Thursday)
- July 27 – Orientation (Monday)
- July 30 – Orientation (Thursday)
- August 6 – Orientation (Thursday)
- August 13 – Potential Orientation (Thursday)
- August 21 – Victor fest (Friday)
The Office of Admissions is looking for outstanding undergraduate students to fill the role of Orientation Leader (OL) for the summer of 2026. As an OL, you will welcome new students and their guests/parents to the NKU community, assist the orientation staff with programs, participate in information sessions, facilitate small group discussions, and convey the spirit and sense of community that is a part of the NKU campus.
This position offers a valuable leadership experience that can enhance a resume.
- Facilitate small group interaction with incoming students and assist parents with questions and concerns.
- Serve as a positive representative of NKU and foster a welcoming environment among newest community members.
- Act in a public relations role during all activities, wearing your name tag at all times.
- Foster community development, helping students build a sense of belonging that positively impacts retention.
- Escort students and family members to events and activities on campus, assist with orientation materials, and direct parking.
- Explain academic and co‑curricular opportunities and how to take advantage of them.
- Acquaint new students with campus services, locations, building names, and schedules.
- Serve as a foundational member of students’ networks, connecting them to important information and resources before, during, and after orientation.
- Make announcements to small or large groups as needed (e.g., schedule changes, severe weather).
- Assist with preparation of orientation materials and activities, including packet stuffing and training.
- Set up and tear down events during orientation programs (e.g., Check‑In, Resource Fair).
- Perform any other tasks as needed.
- Currently enrolled full‑time at NKU.
- Plans to enroll full‑time at NKU in Fall 2026.
