Salary: per 26-27 certified salary schedule plus 20 extended days and $2,500 extra duty stipend.
Position SummaryThe Assistant Principal supports the Principal in maintaining a safe, structured, and student-centered learning environment. This role focuses on student discipline, special education oversight, ARC facilitation, instructional supervision, and daily school operations, ensuring compliance, consistency, and positive school climate.
Primary Responsibilities- Manage minor disciplinary incidents, restorative practices, and behavior interventions.
- Support implementation of school-wide behavior expectations and attendance initiatives
- Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding behavioral concerns.
- Assist with supervision duties, student safety, and school-wide climate initiatives.
- Support attendance intervention teams and student behavior case management
Provide classroom management and behavior support for both ECMS and ECHS. Also Provide administrative support for Edmonson County Alternative learning center on an as-needed basis.
Special Education & ARC Oversight- Serve as an ARC chair or administrative designee.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, KDE regulations, and district procedures.
- Monitor IEP timelines, documentation, and implementation.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, counselors, and related service providers.
- Support appropriate placement decisions aligned with the least restrictive environment principles.
- Conduct teacher observations, walkthroughs, and feedback conferences.
- Support staff growth aligned to SPGES and the district evaluation frameworks
- Assist with professional growth plans and improvement plans as needed.
- Support new teacher mentoring related to classroom management and procedures.
- Assist with daily staffing, substitute coordination, and coverage.
- Support schedules, supervision plans, and emergency procedures
- Assist with drills, safety protocols, and operational logistics.
- Address day-to-day issues to ensure continuity of instruction
- Provide administrative support for ECHS and ALC as needed
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and support staff to coordinate student supports.
- Contribute to school improvement planning and leadership team initiatives.
- Assist in building leadership capacity among staff and supporting long-term school sustainability.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Experience in developing behavior support plans and certified in Safe Crisis Management.
- Strong understanding of special education law and ARC processes
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
