Job DescriptionJob Title: Alternative Education Coordinator
Supervisor: Chief of Student Services
Exempt Status: Exempt
Work Year: 190 Days
Basic Function: Plans, organizes and delivers the program of instruction based on approved curriculum and that supports the premise that all students can learn; monitors, evaluates, and communicates student progress; maintains records and makes reports; enforces Board policies, regulations, and rules.
Representative Duties- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Creates and maintains an environment that is conducive to learning
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals
- Employs instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives, prepares for classes, and maintains written evidence of preparation
- Assists the administration in implementing Board policies, administrative regulations and school rules governing student life and conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports and counseling to parents as required concerning academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students
- Participates in parent/teacher conferences as necessary to assist the parent's participation and support of a child's education
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Continues personal professional growth and upgrading of skills appropriate to teaching assignments
- Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees, and accepts a share of responsibility for extracurricular activities
- Duties may include performance of health services, for which training will be provided
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

- Operation of a computer terminal and data entry techniques

- Laws, rules, and regulations related to assigned activities
- Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities

- Must be able to oversee district virtual learning platforms and possess adequate computer skills
- Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines
- Work independently with little direction
- Meet schedules and timelines
- Able to supervise instructional staff
The work is primarily sedentary. The job requires use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations, occasional bending, squatting, reaching, and lifting light weights. Activities involving driving automotive equipment may be required. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
Education and Experience- Experience and preparation required by the Board
- Demonstrates knowledge of current curriculum and instructional trends and techniques
- Must have three (3) years of successful teaching experience with demonstrated evidence of and potential for success in administrative/supervisory responsibilities
- Must have one of the following: middle or high school teaching certificate or KY principal certification
- Has met the requirements for criminal records check and child abuse and neglect check as specified by Kentucky State Law
