Job Summary
The Sebree Instructional Assistant I will provide support to teachers and students at Sebree Elementary School, fostering an engaging and productive learning environment. This full-time position involves assisting in the implementation of instructional strategies, managing classroom activities, and supporting the diverse needs of students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be committed to helping students achieve their academic goals.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and resources for lessons.
- Support individual and small group instruction to reinforce learning concepts.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance.
- Help maintain a positive classroom environment by managing student behavior and promoting a culture of respect.
- Assist with the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement tailored support for students with special needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.
- Perform clerical duties such as grading assignments, maintaining student records, and organizing classroom materials.
- Engage with parents and guardians to communicate student progress and address concerns as needed.
- Support the overall mission and vision of Sebree Elementary School.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
- Previous experience in an educational setting or working with children is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning and development.
- Basic proficiency in technology and educational software.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing classroom dynamics.
- Knowledge of child development and effective instructional practices is a plus.
- Must pass a background check and any required licensing or certification requirements.
