Job Description

Role: JAG Specialist – Teacher

Employment: Full Day, Full Year

Program: JR JAG

Reports to: Principal, Deputy Superintendent/CAO, Superintendent

Minimum Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor’s degree. Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods; meet physical and TB test requirements; lift up to 50 lbs; have reliable transportation and pass required background checks.

General Responsibilities

The Teacher will manage classroom operations, conduct conferences, provide supervision, prepare materials for learning activities, guide students, maintain a safe environment, and collaborate with stakeholders.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Have a valid teaching certificate or adjunct certification.
  • Allocate 100 % of an ordinary workday to implementing the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) model.
  • Teach 3–4 scheduled JAG KY classes daily.
  • Use at least two class periods per day for planning, coordinating services, completing required daily ENDMS documentation, marketing, business communications, and home‑visits.
  • Complete special projects and duties as assigned by program management.
  • Apply basic computer technology and data input skills.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with school personnel to promote the JAG KY program.
  • Advocate for the program and build a pool of community support resources.
Enrollment & Recruitment
  • Maintain classroom enrollment of 45–65 registered JAG KY students per site.
  • Identify and recruit students in grades 9–12 with at least four barriers who would benefit from the program.
  • Coordinate activities with community agencies to meet individual student needs.
  • Provide individual, group, and career counseling.
Professional Development
  • Participate in all required JAG KY meetings, trainings, professional development workshops, and the JAG National Training Seminar (NTS).
  • Complete all enrollment and participation forms.
  • Create an Advisory Committee to recommend and refer participants to the program.
Curriculum & Instruction
  • Provide instruction utilizing the JAG model.
  • Implement curriculum that ensures students achieve specific competencies through lecture, hands‑on activities, team teaching, and project‑based learning.
  • Apply leadership, teamwork, soft‑skill development, and community service activities.
  • Tailor instruction and intervention strategies to individual student needs.
  • Conduct parent‑teacher conferences twice yearly.
  • Administer the Jobs for America’s National Pre‑ and Post‑Test to measure progress.
  • Provide follow‑up services for employment and post‑secondary opportunities.
  • Develop transition plans for non‑graduates to GED, employment, or additional educational services.
Site & Student Documentation
  • Submit all required JAGforce programmatic documentation in a timely manner.
  • Document daily model services on the JAGforce National Data Management System, including attendance, time allocation, competencies taught, and classroom instruction.
  • Maintain twelve months of communication and follow‑up with each program graduate.
  • Secure and file all student records properly.
  • Compile data and complete reports needed for program operation.
Career Association
  • Establish and coordinate a functional JAG KY Student Career Association.
  • Provide opportunities for field trips and guest speakers.
  • Host a JAG KY Officer Initiation and Installation Program.
  • Participate in local, regional, state, and national student competitive and leadership events.
  • Market the program to local employers, businesses, and industry.
  • Task a two‑member site‑specific tech team with weekly photo submissions for the JAG KY Social Media Manager.
  • Administer at least one site‑specific JAG KY Social Media site.
Terms of Employment

Salary and work year to be established by the superintendent and the Board.

Evaluation is performed in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.

Position is full‑time and open until filled.
