The University of the Cumberlands (UC) is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach undergraduate courses in Introduction to Human Anatomy, Introduction to Human Physiology, and Introduction to Microbiology. The position is under the direction of the Chair of the Biology Department and focuses on delivering high‑quality instruction through lectures and laboratory sessions.
Responsibilities- Teach online sections of Introduction to Human Anatomy, Introduction to Human Physiology, and Introduction to Microbiology.
- Utilize departmental syllabus templates and course objectives to align with University curriculum standards.
- Develop instructional materials and assessments reflecting current anatomical knowledge and effective pedagogy.
- Provide regular, timely feedback on student performance.
- Maintain consistent communication with students, including virtual office hours and email.
- Use the University’s learning management system (iLearn/Blackboard) and Workday to record grades and student engagement.
- Respond professionally to student evaluations and integrate feedback as appropriate.
- Comply with university policies, procedures, and academic integrity standards.
- Master’s degree or higher in Biology, Human Anatomy, Physiology, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching anatomy or closely related subjects, preferably at the collegiate level.
- Commitment to student‑centered instruction and inclusive pedagogy.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Terminal degree (Ph.D., M.D., D.C., D.P.T., or equivalent) in a related discipline.
- Experience teaching both lecture and lab components.
- Familiarity with Blackboard (iLearn) and Workday for course and student management.
- Experience in curriculum design, particularly for hybrid or online formats.
- Ongoing commitment to professional development in anatomy, health sciences, or pedagogy.
- Compensation commensurate with expertise and experience.
- No benefits provided for adjunct faculty positions.
