POSITION SUMMARY:

To improve student academic performance by providing instruction utilizing research-based instructional methodology in content areas and to promote skills that will contribute to each student’s development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Kentucky Department of Education certification in the field of assignment.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

• Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Educators and meet the Teacher Standards as identified by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.
• Strive to carry out the rules and regulations of the Board of Education. Familiarize with administrative procedures and regulations that relate to instruction and discipline.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plan a program of studies that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Plan differentiated instructional activities that are research-based to meet the needs of each student and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
• Assess the progress of students on a continual basis and make changes as appropriate to instructional techniques to promote student achievement.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Seek assistance of district specialists as required to diagnose learning disabilities of students and implement recommendations.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, maintaining order fairly and justly.
• Make provision to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional assistant(s) and volunteer(s).
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees (SBDM and District) as required.
• Reflect on strengths and weaknesses of personal performance as related to student achievement and discuss with the immediate supervisor.
• Seek and engage in professional development experiences that relate to the district/school’s improvement needs and the identified strengths/weaknesses of self.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Ensure that substitute teachers have clear, organized access to desk, class records, and teaching plans.
• Meet other requirements as per current School Board Policies.

187‑Day contract with salary determined by the adopted certified salary schedule of the Trigg County Board of Education.

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of personnel.

• Must have a valid State of Kentucky Teaching Certificate.
• Must meet the requirements of a criminal record check(s) as specified by Kentucky State Law.
• Must meet health requirements as specified in the district personnel policy.
