Job DescriptionTITLE: Special Education LBD Teacher, OES
BASIC FUNCTION: To ensure that children with disabilities have access to and progress in the general curriculum.
Qualifications- Kentucky Teaching Certificate with proper endorsements.
- Additional qualifications as determined by Superintendent or Board may be considered appropriate and acceptable.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Special education program development and implementation for students to have access to and progress in the curriculum.
- Provide direct services to all schools to support the inclusion process, including:
- Understanding the general curriculum (Exit Expectations).
- Extending the general curriculum for students with mild to severe disabilities.
- Facilitating and modeling appropriate modifications of the general curriculum in the regular education setting.
- Evaluating modifications being implemented by teachers.
- Training and evaluating teachers in appropriate collaboration.
- Facilitating the inclusion of students with mild to severe disabilities in the regular education setting.
- Evaluating the placement of students with disabilities in regular settings.
- Design and implement professional development for emergency and probationary certified special education teachers.
- Assist in disaggregating trend data for students with disabilities on statewide assessments.
- Conduct professional development as needed regarding inclusionary efforts in the district.
- Keep abreast of current research and professional literature; meet with other professionals to exchange information about new practices.
- Adhere to the professional code of ethics.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Familiarize and incorporate technology in daily tasks.
- Complete other duties assigned by Superintendent.
- Standing, walking, climbing, balancing.
- Frequent reach, push, pull up to 50 lbs; occasional up to 100 lbs.
- Frequent bend, stoop, crouch up to 100 lbs; occasional over 100 lbs.
- Occasional kneel, crawl.
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel. Responsibilities and duties are at the discretion of the supervisor.
