Job GoalTo create an effective instructional program conducive to learning and personal growth needs of each student. To successfully instruct and motivate students to develop skills, attitude and knowledge necessary for every student to meet their greatest intellectual potential, emotional development and psychological well‑being.
Performance Responsibilities- Teaches skills, knowledge and attitudes through courses in subject matter that adheres to standards and practices established by the Kentucky Board of Education, the Wayne County Board of Education and the appropriate school’s Site Based Decision Making council.
- Adopts subject matter materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students.
- Prepares lesson plans appropriate for the grade and subject matter assigned.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and any instructional activity and communicates these objectives to students.
- Translates lesson plans and objectives into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction and maximize the learning for each student.
- Provides an educational environment that promotes student learning through appropriate learning opportunities. (i.e. individual work, group and collaborative work, online learning, project based learning, etc.)
- Differentiates the curriculum as appropriate for individual students.
- Evaluates student progress and communicates such progress to students and parents in a timely manner.
- Collects and analyzes information on student progress to inform instructional practices.
- Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable steps to ensure the safety of students including the supervision of students in the classroom, during transition times and out of school activities.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable steps to protect facilities, equipment and materials.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, administrative regulation and district policy.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Develops and communicates reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Is available for student and parent communication and conferences during the school day as well as after school when appropriate and reasonable.
- Works with school staff members in activities which are a part of school life. (includes but is not limited to: staff meetings, committee work, parent‑teacher conferences, club and/or class sponsorship, field trips and other student activities associated with school life both within and outside the normal school day.)
