ELECTION
The Board of Education may, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, appoint an Assistant Principal at the school level. The compensation will be fixed by the Board of Education with the recommendation of the Superintendent. The Assistant Principal shall be a 200 day employee at the elementary and alternative level and a 240 day employee at the secondary level.
The Assistant Principal shall be directly responsible to the Principal.
The requirements for this position will be designated by the State Department of Education.
Duties and Responsibilities- Administer punishment and offer solutions for student problems as needed.
- Handle bus problems and administer punishment when needed.
- Assist the Pupil Personnel office in the solution of attendance problems.
- Attend major school functions where large numbers of students are in attendance and assist in supervision when needed.
- Keep records and make reports on student problems and concerns.
- Make referrals to the Guidance Department and Pupil Personnel Department.
- Work closely with the faculty in the improvement of student-teacher relationships.
- Be responsible for keeping the Principal informed and make parental contact concerning disciplinary problems when necessary.
- Share in the responsibility of observing and evaluating teachers and staff members.
- Help supervise extra-curricular activities.
- Help administer and facilitate in-service programs.
- Work with the different school committees.
- Work with the administration of special education program, including being a potential chairperson of ARC meetings.
- Perform any other duties as delegated by the Principal.
- Proper Kentucky School Principal certification.
- Classroom teaching experience.
- To be a role model in research-based teaching strategies and intervention programs to promote student achievement.
- Physical, TB risk assessment, state/national criminal background check, CAN Check, and drug screen.
Working 200 days for the 2026-27 school year.
Salary commensurate with years of teaching experience and rank.
