Job DescriptionPurpose: To help students acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for development into mature, responsible young adults.
Reports To: Principal
Qualifications- A bachelor’s degree or higher and the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned position.
- The ability to work effectively with students, peers and adults.
- The ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and faculty.
- The ability to travel between sites.
The teacher has the responsibility to provide an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program aligned with the district’s curriculum and goals that will result in the students achieving success in the post‑secondary environment.
Essential Performance Responsibilities and DutiesProfessional
- Develop and maintain positive and cooperative interactions and communication with school staff, clients, and the community.
- Promote a positive attitude and enthusiasm toward education, the school, and the district.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend and participate in required school and district professional development activities.
- Complete the evaluation/staff development cycle.
- Share expertise and knowledge with other staff.
- Maintain the confidentiality, both verbally and in written form, of each student’s educational record.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability.
- Carry out assignments in a timely manner without undue monitoring and checking.
- Adhere to the Trimble County Board of Education Policies and Procedures.
Instructional
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement.
- Maintain effective and efficient record‑keeping procedures.
- Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
- Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
- Assume responsibility for meeting individual student and school‑wide student performance goals.
- Demonstrate gains in student performance.
- Establish standards of classroom conduct and administer them in a fair, equitable, and consistent manner.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
Building
- All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual evaluation plan and professional growth plan.
- Provide supervision in non‑classroom areas and situations.
- Promote and maintain a safe and healthful environment in the classroom and building.
- Keep accurate records and provide them for administration; file required reports on a timely basis.
- Develop a budget for applicable programs and ensure that needed materials are ordered following district procedures with the administrator’s approval.
- Participate in required staff meetings, conferences, and Professional Learning Communities.
- Participate in committees related to student needs, school programs, and district needs.
- Care for school and district resources, equipment and materials assigned to them and report concerns regarding facility and equipment to the designated supervisor.
