Job Description

Requirement: Kentucky Teacher Certification – English Language Arts (Grades 6–8)

Responsibilities

The teacher demonstrates applied content knowledge.

  • Communicates concepts, processes, and knowledge.
  • Connects content to life experiences of students.
  • Demonstrates instructional strategies appropriate for content and that contribute to student learning.
  • Guides students to understand content from various perspectives.
  • Identifies and addresses students’ misconceptions of content.

The teacher designs and plans instruction.

  • Plans and implements an education program that is consistent with the SBDM Council’s adopted curriculum.
  • Develops significant objectives aligned with standards.
  • Uses contextual data to design instruction relevant to students.
  • Plans assessments to guide instruction and measure learning objectives.
  • Implements flashbacks at the beginning of class to review previously taught content.
  • Plans instructional strategies and activities that address learning objectives for all students.
  • Writes lesson plans utilizing the adopted format.
  • Plans instructional strategies that facilitate multiple levels of learning.

The teacher creates and maintains a learning climate.

Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or building principal.
