About the Role

The School of the Arts (SOTA) at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) invites applications for its ongoing pool of part‑time instructors across a range of disciplines within the School of the Arts, including Art & Design, Music, Theatre & Dance, and other related areas as instructional needs arise. We seek passionate and skilled artist‑educators, practitioners, and scholars who are committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring students.

Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in their field and a dedication to fostering student learning, creativity, and engagement in both introductory and advanced coursework. Part‑time faculty may be considered for teaching assignments in a variety of subject areas depending on departmental needs and candidate qualifications. Courses may include studio, performance, lecture, seminar, laboratory, or technology‑based instruction. While there is no specific position associated with this posting at this time, applications will be used to build and maintain a qualified pool of instructors for future part‑time teaching opportunities within the School of the Arts.

Appointments are made on an as‑needed basis and are contingent upon enrollment, funding, and programmatic needs.

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Teach a two or three‑contact hour course during scheduled course times.
  • Create a syllabus with a timeline of classes for students.
  • Provide times to meet students outside of class (office hours; virtual or face‑to‑face).
  • Manage course content for students through Canvas.
  • Manage mid‑term and final grades through the MyNKU online grading system.
