Supervises: N/A
BASIC FUNCTION: To provide opportunities for children’s growth, focusing on assigned students who are deficient in learning skills and lack a positive self-esteem.
Representative Duties- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.
- Instruct identified ESS students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of the progress log, attendance log, transportation log (if applicable), exit form, and student data.
- Attend ESS staff meetings and serve on ESS staff committees as required.
- Analyze data from diagnostic assessments and assist the school with the administration of other assessments.
- Coordinate assistance plans and resources for students receiving services.
- Differentiate instruction.
- Perform other duties and assume responsibilities as assigned by the ESS Coordinator and/or Principal.
Knowledge of:
- Principles and procedures associated with support services.
- Areas related to student support programs in the district, including current laws and changes in legislation and regulations relevant to these programs.
- District policies and procedures to effectively carry out job duties.
- Strategies for closing achievement gaps.
- Current student information system.
Ability to:
- Locate information from local, state and federal departments.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written communications.
- Collaborate with district and school staff.
- Demonstrate positive, professional relationships with district personnel, parents, and community members.
- Provide needed resources, services, and materials for students.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weight.
- Annual development of professional growth plan.
- Annual evaluation of job performance by supervisor according to district approved evaluation plan.
- Bachelor’s Degree in field of assignment (minimum requirement).
- Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for area and grade level of assignment.
