Summary

The Instructional Assistant II at Providence Elementary School plays a vital role in supporting the educational needs of students and enhancing the overall learning environment. This full-time position involves working closely with teachers to implement instructional plans, assist with classroom management, and provide individualized support to students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all learners.

Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers in the delivery of instructional activities and lesson plans.
  • Provide individualized and small group support to students, helping them to achieve their academic goals.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers on student performance and areas for improvement.
  • Help create and maintain a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student learning and participation.
  • Support students with special needs, implementing accommodations and modifications as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of instructional materials and resources.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times to ensure safety and positive behavior.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support student development and address any concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • 42 college credit hours or passing of the para educator exam.
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques, particularly for diverse learners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in technology and educational software used in the classroom.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student growth and development.
  • Must pass a background check and comply with all local and state education regulations.
