School Guidance Counselor, Crossroads Elementary

Title: Crossroads Elementary School Guidance Counselor

• Kentucky Certificate with proper endorsements.
• Additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To: Principal

• Develop a process and procedure for planning, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive developmental program of guidance and counseling.
• Provide a developmental, preventive guidance program to all students within the school.
• Work with individuals and groups of students utilizing a variety of proven strategies in addressing mental, physical and emotional barriers to learning.
• Work with school and district staff in designing and coordinating a testing program that helps students identify abilities, aptitudes, achievements and interests.
• Participate in required training relative to job assignment, supervisor‑approved professional growth plan, school/district initiatives or as directed by the Principal.
• Work with parents, staff and community agencies to meet the mental, physical and emotional needs of students.
• Use technology to support instruction; access and manipulate data; enhance professional growth and productivity; communicate and collaborate with colleagues, parents and community; conduct research/solve problems.
• Participate in school‑related activities, programs or meetings as assigned by the principal and or Superintendent.
• Adhere to school/district, state/federal policies, regulations and laws.
• Maintain a variety of records as required by school or district policies, state and federal law, or as assigned by the Principal.
• Supervise students to ensure student safety.
• Facilitate successful student transition from one level of education to the next.
• Utilize assessment tools; individual planning skills and counseling in guiding individuals and groups of students through development of educational career plans.
• Work with students in developing behaviors and character traits essential for successful functioning in school, society and the workplace.
• Provide leadership within the school, district and education profession to improve student learning, as well as support district and state initiatives.
• Perform tasks and assume responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
