Salary Range: $15.30 – $17.00 per hour

Job Summary

As an Extension Assistant for all program areas, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the 4‑H Youth Development program, Family and Consumer Sciences program, and the Agriculture and Natural Resources program areas and the respective county Agent(s). You will report to an Area Extension Director and interact frequently with the general public. The Extension Assistant will assist with Quick Books, maintain budget files, promote and organize new 4‑H clubs, recruit members and volunteer leaders, support and guide existing 4‑H clubs, recruit volunteers for events and activities such as project groups, 4‑H, FCS, and ANR achievement events, and public presentation programs, serving all clientele.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to 4‑H Youth Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Agriculture and Natural Resources program areas and their county Agent(s).
  • Assist with Quick Books and maintain budget files.
  • Promote and organize new 4‑H clubs; recruit members and volunteer leaders.
  • Provide support and guidance to existing 4‑H clubs.
  • Recruit and work with volunteers for events and activities such as project groups, 4‑H, FCS, ANR achievement events, and public presentation programs.
  • Serve all clientele in a professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Driver’s License required.
  • Must pass a national and state criminal background check.
  • Must provide a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services indicating the employee is clear to hire based on no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect found through a background check of child abuse and neglect records.
Physical Requirements

Job-related travel; visiting clientele at sites throughout the county (including farms); sitting, standing, and walking for long periods; handling average-weight objects up to 50 lbs.

Work Schedule

Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; occasional nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Preferred Education/Experience

Education or previous experience in agriculture/horticulture/family and consumer sciences, working with youth, and prior administrative support role.
