Instructional Assistant (RCHS-current position)

Russell County Schools – Russell County High School – Russell Springs, Kentucky

Hours:

7 hours per day, 180 days school year.

Assist students with personal and toileting needs, including catheterization if required; receive training from school health professionals and perform allowable medical services as necessary; participate in training sessions; perform non-teaching assignments and extracurricular activities as related; write up other duties assigned by the principal or program director; implement approved job description; use professional and respectful communication with students and faculty.

• Must have a high school diploma or GED or be enrolled in the GED program.
• Ability to develop a positive, professional relationship with students, teachers, administrators and parents.
• Willingness and ability to assist with personal care needs and medical services after receiving training.
• Must be available to participate in training sessions.
• Willing to participate in non-teaching assignments and extracurricular activities related to the role.
• Must successfully complete all required employment forms and applications.
• Rendered health services after appropriate training.
• Must have the ability to implement approved job description.
• Use professional and respectful communication while performing job duties.
• Must meet Section 1111(g)(2)(J) and (M) of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for paraprofessionals:
  • Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education.
  • Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree.
  • Met a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrated, through a local academic assessment, knowledge of and ability to assist in instruction, reading, writing, and mathematics.
