Summary
Lewisburg Area High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our vibrant educational community. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for literature, writing, and critical thinking. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and engaging students in meaningful discussions about language and literature.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and promote student learning in reading, writing, and critical analysis.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through various methods, including tests, essays, and projects, providing constructive feedback to enhance their skills.
- Foster a love for reading by introducing students to a diverse range of literary works and genres.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities related to English language and literature, such as writing clubs, book fairs, and literary competitions.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and integrate technology into the curriculum.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends in English education.
- Uphold school policies and contribute to a positive school culture.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in English for secondary education.
- Proven experience teaching English at the high school level, with a strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Knowledge of diverse literary works and a passion for fostering a love of reading and writing in students.
- Commitment to professional growth and collaboration with colleagues in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with technology and its integration into the classroom to enhance learning experiences.
