Assist with the Implementation of the Literacy Block
Work with Literacy Coordinator to plan or follow the plan of appropriate activities according to various reading levels of the children.
Participate in either guided independent reading practice time, or daily read-aloud and fluency-building activities during the after school and summer programs.
Attend at least one training concerning best practices in guided independent reading practice time, daily read-aloud and fluency-building activities.
If applicable, attend at least one training concerning best practices in the implementation of the Emergent Reader Literacy Block.
Communicate regularly with the Literacy Coordinator.
Assist in the Implementation of Accelerated Reader, if applicable
Assist with organizing the AR library, if appropriate.
Incorporate one hour of planning time into weekly schedule to prepare for programming.
If assisting with guided independent reading practice, incorporate one to two hours into weekly go over AR Diagnostic reports with the Literacy Coordinator.
Address individual children's needs with Literacy Coordinator to implement a possible solution.
Assist in administering pre and post STAR Reading test (if your school/program doesn't otherwise do so) for every child in Save the Children in-school and after school programs.
