** Provides strategic direction, programming leadership, operational oversight, and evaluation for precollege programming in support of preparing individuals to be successful in their higher education endeavors. Develops and fosters relationships with constituents in support of the program and community partners.  The Director of Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science is responsible for supervising programs, managing staff and resources, and coordinating the activity of the Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science grants.

The Director provides strategic direction, operational oversight, leadership and evaluation for UW-Green Bay’s two Upward Bound programs that support preparing high school students to be successful in their higher education endeavors. This position  works closely with the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Access and Success to advise institutional and divisional leadership on Upward Bound and for expanding UW-Green Bay’s mission to provide equitable access to higher education.

With a passion for equity and access, the Director serves as an advocate to promote college going culture and success for K-12 students.##
** Key

Job Responsibilities:

*** Directs strategic planning initiatives and establishes pre-college program objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources and alignment with the strategic plan
* Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
* Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships
* Serves as the unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups providing pre-college program information
* Advises institutional or divisional leadership on pre-college program services and student needs
* Develops and oversees the program budget
* Develops operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and pre-college program unit objectives
* Works with Upward Bound Programs staff to collect student academic data and prepare it for Annual Performance Report to Department of Education
* Plans and implements hybrid 6-week summer program for participants, including being oncall and chaperoning a one week out of state trip.##

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).##

* Required Qualifications:

*** Master’s degree in Education, Counseling or a related field at time of application
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in K-12 schools or other educational organizations
* Extensive knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving diverse student populations.##

* Preferred Qualifications:

*** Experience in a higher education setting
* Supervisory experience
* Knowledge of TRiO/Precollege Programs
* Experience writing or working on grant-related projects that serve underrepresented students in higher education
* Proficiency in speaking and reading a second language, preferably Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or Oneida
* Demonstrated experience designing, managing or implementing a collaborative multiorganizational project
* Demonstrated computer proficiency with the ability to use database, spreadsheet and word processing software/applications.##
