Duties and Responsibilities:
Goals- 60% of the students complete their individual development plan and/or achieve their high school equivalency diploma and/or an entry level industry-based credential, and/or admission into a credit-bearing college course.
- 40% of students who complete the program, secure jobs or obtain a better wage.
- Achieve all Work Ready U program benchmark targets and college performance measures, especially recruitment, retention, advancement, measurable skill gains, high school equivalency attainment, college credit, and industry-based credentials.
- Receive positive feedback from students, industry partners, community partners, correctional or reentry partners when applicable, and LCTC regarding program outputs and outcomes as well as suggestions for improvement and sustainability
- Responsible for full implementation of all aspects of the Work Ready U program, including recruitment, set-up, preparation, instructional delivery, student communication and coaching, collaboration with other instructors and training specialists, data collection, data entry, follow-up and recognition.
- Provide instruction and student support in multiple instructional settings, including camp us, community, virtual, correctional, transitional work, reentry, or partner-based sites as assigned by the Director of Work Ready U.
- Support program performance, compliance, documentation, student persistence, and measurable outcomes in accordance with Work Ready U, Fletcher Technical Community College, LCTC, and grant requirements.
- Design, prepare and deliver effective one-on-one, small group, classroom-based, hands-on, and/or online instruction based on adult learning principles and training techniques that simulate the support academic and workforce readiness.
- Create/maintain an orderly, controlled classroom or instructional environment conducive to active engagement in learning.
- Organize and present instructional material at scheduled times and places in accordance with the learning objectives, individual learning plans, and established individual and small group appointments.
- Create opportunities for students to participate in distance learning and online instruction when appropriate and approved by program leadership.
- Adapt instructional methods, materials, and classroom management strategies to meet the needs of adult learners in traditional, community-based, virtual, correctional, transitional work, and reentry-focused learning environments.
- Follow all required facility procedures, safety protocols, communication expectations, and documentation requirements when assigned to teach in correctional, transitional work, or other secured partner locations.
- Encourage, recognize, reward and design incentives to keep students motivated and engaged in the learning process.
- Help students set and commit to achieving goals, plan specific actions, overcome challenges and barriers, and access resources that support their success.
- Provide students with information regarding their chosen career pathway and facilitate activities that support transition into employment, post-secondary education, training, or improved wages.
- Teach students how to use the internet and other technology for online instruction, job search, employment applications, career exploration, and digital literacy development.
- Support adult learners who may face barriers related to transportation, poverty, employment, family responsibilities, incarceration, reentry, limited technology access, and prior educational disruption.
- Maintain accurate student records regarding attendance, performance, progress, status, outreach, and instructional services, including documentation required for campus-based, virtual, community partner, correctional, transitional work, or reentry-based instructional settings.
- Submit course, student, attendance, and outreach reports on a weekly basis or as otherwise required by program leadership.
- Maintain contact with students through approved communication methods, including Fletcher email, Canvas, Remind, phone, and/or other approved program communication tools.
- Review program performance scorecard data with the Director of Work Ready U on a monthly basis and take appropriate actions to improve individual and program performance.
- Use performance and process data to improve instruction, student persistence, measurable skill gains, post-testing, high school equivalency attainment, credential attainment, and transition outcomes.
