Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Belmont Mansion is seeking a part-time, experienced, and accomplished pianist who enjoys history and historical instruments. Would you enjoy performing in a unique historical setting? Are you intrigued by the opportunity to play a 158-year-old piano in an 1860s era room? Do you wish to strengthen your public speaking skills? If so, we would love to talk with you.

An 1860s box grand piano was restored recently with the intent of allowing our visitors to experience mid-19th century music in the authentic period Grand Salon of Belmont Mansion. Forty-five-minute to one-hour performances would take place during regular visitor hours to the museum both during the week and weekends. (Mon - Sat: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm; Sunday: 11:00 to 4:00).

Ideal applicants will demonstrate a mastery of the piano and the ability to sight read music, the ability to learn and adapt to playing a historical instrument, the skill set to convey to the public the history of the instrument as well as the music being played (script provide by Belmont Mansion), a willingness to work as one part of a bigger team, a strong public speaking presence, and demonstrate superior customer service skills.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must be able to climb stairs and have the ability to remain positive, respectful, and flexible in a fast-paced environment.

Must have demonstrated mastery of the piano and the ability to sight read music, the ability to learn and adapt to playing a historical instrument, the skill set to convey to the public the history of the instrument as well as the music being played (script provided by Belmont Mansion staff), a willingness to work as one part of a bigger team, a strong public speaking presence, and demonstrate superior customer service skills.

Required

Education

Must be enrolled as a student at Belmont University. Must have training and performance experience as a pianist.
