The Certified Teacher provides direct instruction and academic enrichment to Club members through programs focused on Academic Success, Good Character & Leadership, and Healthy Lifestyles
. The Certified Teacher creates a positive and structured learning environment while delivering engaging lessons that support academic growth and student development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the responsibilities associated with this position. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Deliver engaging lessons and activities aligned with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) concepts.

Provide instruction in core academic subjects including reading, English language arts, mathematics, and science
.

Plan and implement interactive and hands‑on learning activities that encourage participation and academic success.

Foster a safe and supportive environment through positive guidance and discipline.

Encourage students to develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem‑solving skills.

Utilize technology to enhance learning experiences when appropriate.

Maintain classroom materials, instructional resources, and educational equipment.

Track student progress and maintain accurate program records and documentation.

Monitor and record student participation and academic outcomes when required for grant reporting.

Work collaboratively with Club Directors and program staff to ensure quality programming.

Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student participation and progress when necessary.

Support overall program quality and ensure compliance with organizational and grant requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

Participate in Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) training, internal trainings, and staff meetings.

Report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the Florida Abuse Hotline in accordance with mandated reporting laws.

Be present during all scheduled program hours to ensure proper supervision and program delivery.

Utilize designated planning time for lesson preparation and program development.

Assist with other projects or assignments as requested by the Club Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Must successfully complete Level 2 Background Screening through the Florida Department of Children & Families.

Must pass a pre‑employment drug screening
.

Certifications

CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.

Minimum three (3) years teaching experience preferred.

Experience working with youth development programs or nonprofit organizations is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong classroom management and youth engagement skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to create an engaging and positive learning environment.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced youth program environment.

Proficiency in computer systems, data entry, and Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County operates youth development programs in community clubhouses and school‑based sites throughout Broward County. Employees may work in classrooms, recreation areas, and other youth activity spaces.
