Part-Time Research Project Coordinator Position Description
The Granger Lab in the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University is seeking a part‑time Project Coordinator to support multiple ongoing research projects focused on classroom peer relationships, emotional and behavioural disorders (EBD), teacher practices, and social network processes, and well‑being in elementary schools. This position is ideal for a post‑baccalaureate individual interested in research, psychology, education, special education, child development, or pursuing future graduate training.
The Project Coordinator will work closely with Dr. Kristen Granger and research staff to support project coordination, data collection, participant communication, and overall lab operations across several externally and internally funded projects. This is a part‑time, grant‑funded position. School‑based hours are required for data collection schedules. Reliable transportation and access to a personal vehicle required for travel to local school and community sites.
- Coordinating day‑to‑day research project activities across multiple studies
- Communicating with participating schools, teachers, families, and community partners
- Assisting with participant recruitment and scheduling
- Supporting data collection in elementary school settings
- Managing research databases and project tracking systems
- Assisting with preparation of study materials, surveys, and intervention resources
- Coordinating undergraduate research assistants and supporting lab organization
- Assisting with IRB‑related documentation and regulatory procedures
- Supporting literature reviews and preparation of presentations or reports
- Assisting with travel coordination, purchasing, reimbursements, and project logistics
- Managing lab communications and scheduling meetings
- Supporting dissemination activities including conference submissions, social media, or project newsletters as needed
- Assisting with other research and administrative tasks as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, special education, child development, human development, or a related field required
- Prior research experience preferred
- Experience working with children, schools, or individuals with disabilities preferred
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Experience with Microsoft Office, REDCap, SPSS, or other research/data platforms preferred
The Granger Lab studies peer relationships, classroom social dynamics, teacher decision‑making, and emotional and behavioural disorders in elementary school settings. Current projects focus on classroom social networks, teacher practices that support peer relationships, classroom adversity, and intervention development to improve social and behavioural outcomes for students.
