Nevada County Superintendent of Schools is the County Office of Education for Western Nevada County, California. Hello and Welcome to Nevada County Special Education. This program can best be described as a Therapeutic Learning Classroom. We have 2 classrooms at Union Hill, C1 has grades K-5 and G4 has students from grades 6-8. This is a team environment where highly trained and skilled staff work with students to support academic progress while systematically addressing social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Most students attend general education, our staff are ready to assist the substitutes in how to best support our students. Providers such as a full-time mental health therapist, a behaviorist, and others push in or pull out to assist the classroom students. Staff appreciate substitutes coming into our classrooms and will answer any questions you might have.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent--and--One of the following:
- Completion of 48 college semester units
- Satisfactory completion of an approved Para educator test
- Completion of a county approved proficiency test in reading, writing, and mathematics.
** Recent, successful experience working with severely emotionally, mentally, and/or extensive needs special education students in an organized setting is a plus!**
Comments and Other InformationThese requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance.
- Fingerprint and Background clearance (paid by employer)
- Post Offer, Pre-Employment Physical (paid by employer)
- Valid Tuberculosis clearance (employer will provide if not in possession)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Step 1 $ 20.55 - Step 18 $ 31.04 per hour with a non-negotiable maximum starting placement at Step 6 $ 26.24/hr depending on experience.
Length of Work Year185 Days + 10 Paid Holidays (August - June)
