DESCRIPTION
The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching Preschool and inspiring students to excel. The Lead Teacher takes charge of planning, assessing, and instructing four-year-old children. This role encompasses full implementation of the PreK for All program (formerly known as GSRP) in accordance with the PreK for All Implementation Manual, Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and State of Michigan LARA guidelines.
Working closely with the classroom team, the Lead Teacher ensures a high-quality early learning experience for each child.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
- Support daily classroom routines, including taking children outside in all seasons
- Coordinate and implement developmentally appropriate instruction using Highscope Curriculum
- Follow the daily schedule aligned with PreK for All guidelines
- Conduct screenings and ongoing assessments, providing individualized instructional support
- Foster positive family involvement and engagement
- Collaborate with the Early Childhood Specialist to ensure quality programming and maintain a high-class rating
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other program activities as required
- Successfully mentor, direct and collaborate with Associate Teacher
- Provider, promoting teamwork and shared classroom leadership
- Effectively lead classroom staff in establishing a strong classroom community and maintaining a commitment to high-quality standards
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation for grant and licensing compliance
- Utilize the Smart Teach assessment tool to monitor student progress and guide instruction
- Conduct two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences annually for each child
- Create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that supports the diverse needs of young learners
- Flexibility and a willingness to continually learn and grow professionally
- Perform additional duties as assigned

- A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth-K, or PK-3 endorsement
- Experience working with preschool-aged children
