POSITION: LUNCHROOM/PLAYGROUND ASSISTANT
Job Focus:
Responsible for supervising students in group interaction and physical exercise, in a safe, clean, and orderly environment during recess and lunch periods.
Line of Supervision:
Responsible to the Assistant Principal
Shift: Part-Time-10:15 a.m.1:15 p.m.
Salary: $15.00 per hour
LUNCHROOMDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise students from their arrival to the lunchroom to their departure to the classroom;
- Direct students where to stand in line and where to sit in the lunchroom;
- Knowledgeable of and follow school safety and emergency procedures;
- Maintains positive communication with students, addressing any needs that may arise;
- Wash tables, cleanup spills, and assist student with maintaining good manners during lunch;
- Help maintain order in the lunchroom during each lunch period;
- Work with other school staff, including kitchen and other lunchroom assistants, Building Principal and Assistant Principal, during the lunch periods;
- Responsive to the special needs of student diets;
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal and/or Building Administration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises all students during recess, while maintaining a harmonious and safe environment on the playground;
- Provide assistance organizing group games and activities;
- Establishes a positive relationship with students;
- Maintains effective communication with school personnel;
- Supervise student play, and monitors proper use of playground equipment;
- Monitors students entering and exiting the playground, while directing students to follow their schedules;
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal and/or Building Administration.
- Be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma.
- Be of good health and character.
- Be able to follow both written and oral directions.
- Be willing to work with and around adults and children.
- Be able to follow a set of work schedules, and procedures.
- Be willing to learn new skills, and follow directions.
- Experience working with children, preferred.
Part-Time Position, Ten-month year. Salary and other benefits as established by the Board of Education.
