We’re looking for a project‑based instructional designer who can design and develop instructor‑led training materials, e‑learning, job aids, and skills checks. An exceptional candidate will have project management experience. We will test your instructional design skills and check references.
- Deadline-driven. Our business is fast‑paced with many quick‑turnaround projects running expect our team members to meet our productivity guidelines and always deliver on time.
- Flexible and dynamic. We work on a variety of projects with clients in myriad industries—manufacturing, health care, IT, construction, travel, etc. You’ll need to get up to speed quickly and translate technical information into actionable and easily absorbable training. Because our work naturally ebbs and flows, we offer flexible schedules and work arrangements.
- Proactive and communicative. Because much of our work is virtual, or occasionally on‑site with a client, you won’t have someone looking over your shoulder and micromanaging your work. Every project has a mentor and a project leader, so you won’t be left on your own either, but we do expect a level of self‑management. We plan on and expect collaboration and communication on every project.
- Committed to quality. McMul is proud of the work we do, and we want you to take pride in it too. We’re looking for an instructional designer who can develop a wide range of high‑quality training materials, including writing design documents, developing storyboards, writing instructor‑led training content, and designing and developing e‑learning. We want someone who is not afraid to edit, revise, and repeat with team members for the best final product.
Thisis a project‑based position where you can expect to work 30–40hours perweek, sometimes more, sometimes less. Project‑based means that you are not regularly scheduled towork butare engaged on specific projects—for a variety of clients. This role pays $26–$30 per hour, based on experience.
Requirements- At least three years of relevant work experience
- Great writing skills
- Able to pass an instructional design test
- Able to quickly grasp complex concepts
- In‑depth understanding of adult learning theory
- Fluency with Microsoft Office and an affinity for Word styles
- Capacity to communicate effectively with people across industries
- Project management skills, as appropriate
- Able to professionally represent McMul in client‑facing interactions
- Familiarity with typical learning management systems
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or adult learning
- Experience with Storyline, Captivate, or other e‑learning development tools
- Fluency with Google Workspace, especially Docs and Slides
- Project management skills and experience
- Located in the Salt Lake City metro area
- Expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro, Acrobat, or In Design
- Experience meeting accessibility standards
- Able to travel on occasion
