Purpose:
We are looking for a friendly, motivated student to join the Office of Career Development team!
As a Student Assistant, you'll help students with their career goals and gain valuable experience in a professional office setting. You'll improve your communication, organization, and leadership skills while assisting others. Plus, this position is flexible and allows you to bring your ideas and skills to help the office grow.
Responsibilities- Greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors, answer questions, and guide them to the appropriate resources
- Answer the phone and oversee the careers email account
- Assist students in requesting career consultations on Handshake
- Offer intentional feedback to students on their resumes and cover letters to improve their confidence and career readiness
- Help with career events and programs like the biannual Job & Internship Networking Mixer
- Manage Handshake, approve job requests, approve events, and help troubleshoot any basic issues
- Collaborate with Career Development staff to raise awareness of the services among Chatham students through intentional outreach efforts
- Must have a Federal Work Study award
- First year or sophomore standing preferred
- Available to work at least 10 hours a week
- Strong communications skills and ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and faculty
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage time effectively
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
All current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if you work multiple jobs on campus at the same time. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year. Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer.
