The Opportunity Lesley University's department of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: CLANG 1601
- Portuguese I;
Fall Semester 2026;
Tuesdays/Fridays from 8:00 am - 9:15 am;
In-person, On-campus.

This introductory Portuguese language course is designed for students interested in studying, working, or traveling to Portuguese-speaking regions of the world. Students will learn fundamental communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while gaining exposure to the cultures of Brazil, Portugal, and other Portuguese-speaking countries. Students will also build practical language proficiency and intercultural understanding through media, film, music, and other authentic resources.

• Master's degree in Portuguese, Brazilian Studies, or a closely related field (required).
• PhD or terminal degree (preferred).
• Experience teaching Portuguese at the undergraduate level with the ability to integrate cultural competence into language instruction.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Portuguese.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Demonstrated commitment to communicative, student-centered, inclusive, and equitable language teaching practices.
• Experience using learning management systems and instructional technology to support teaching and learning.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
