ENGLISH TUTOR

Part Time Saint George, UT, US

7 days ago Requisition

Salary Range: $35.00 To $50.00 Hourly

Position Overview:

We're looking for a creative, enthusiastic English educator who loves helping young people become confident readers, writers, and communicators. This is a unique opportunity to work one-on-one with students ages 10-16 in a homeschooling environment where you'll have the freedom to build lessons, explore ideas, and make English meaningful.

What You'll Do

Build a custom English curriculum from the ground up based on each student's skill level, interests, learning style, and goals.

Develop strong reading and writing skills through literature, creative writing, grammar, vocabulary, and meaningful discussion.

Teach students to think critically by helping them analyze what they read, develop their own ideas, and communicate those ideas clearly.

Recognize gaps in understanding and adapt your teaching approach when a student needs a different explanation, challenge, or way of learning.

Create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable sharing ideas, making mistakes, asking questions, and developing their voice.

Take ownership of the student's growth by preparing meaningful lessons, tracking progress, building strong study habits, and communicating with parents.

Qualifications:

Strong proficiency in English, writing, and communication; a related degree is highly preferred.

Previous experience tutoring, teaching, homeschooling, or mentoring students ages 10-16.

Strong ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engage students in meaningful discussion.

Creative, patient, dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently.

Schedule & Compensation:

Schedule:

Approximately 8-10 hours per week (schedule may be flexible).

Location:

In-person at the student's home in Leeds, Utah
