Position
Description:
The Teen Tutor Assistant Coordinator will assist the Teen Tutor Program Coordinator by planning and implementing program activities, leading and supervising Teen Tutor employees, and assisting with administrative tasks where appropriate.
This year-round position will be based out of the McDonough Recreation Center and anticipated hours for the school year are:
Monday through Friday - 3:00pm – 7:00pm
Essential Functions:
Primary duties for this position include:
- Building healthy and caring relationships with program participants and Teen Tutor employees.
- Assisting in maintaining a safe and respectful program environment that encourages belonging and engagement.
- Plan and implement tutoring, academic, enrichment, and recreational activities in cooperation with the Program Coordinator.
- Provide daily guidance, coaching, and feedback to Teen Tutors, as well as modeling professionalism, communication and teamwork.
- Assist with data tracking and youth assessments of program participants.
- Occasional transporting of youth and staff during events away from work location.
- Taking responsibility and accountability for time commitments.
- Participate in staff trainings and meetings as scheduled.
Qualification Requirements
- Completion of one year of post-secondary education with classwork in the field of Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields.
- Experience working in youth programs or in school as a classroom aide, tutor, or in a similar role.
- Candidate chosen must have a valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance, and acceptable driving record. Must have access to reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of child/youth development and ground care of children and youth.
- Cross cultural practice and communication experience.
Qualification Preferences
- Fluency in Karen is preferred.
- Experience in after school or youth programs.
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Physical working conditions require that the person be able to participate in youth program activities. May require lifting and moving program supplies. During the program, frequent standing and walking around classroom, gym, or playground is required.
- Mental requirements include ability to assist students with homework, verbal communication ability to professionally interact with Keystone staff, youth and families, community residents, and staff from other organizations.
