Job Description

TITLE:
Special Education LBD Teacher, OES

BASIC FUNCTION:
To ensure that children with disabilities have access to and progress in the general curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Kentucky Teaching Certificate with proper endorsements.

2. Additional qualifications as Superintendent or Board may find apporpriate and acceptable.

DUTIES/

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Special Education Program Development/Implementation for students having access to and progress in the curriculum:

• Provides direct services to all schools to support the inclusion process with regard to:

o Knowing and understanding the general curriculum (Exit Expectations)

o Knowing and understanding how to extend the general curriculum for students with mild to severe disabilities

o Facilitating and modeling appropriate modifications of the general curriculum in the regular education setting

o Evaluating modifications being implemented by all teachers

o Training and evaluating teachers in appropriate collaboration

o Facilitating the inclusion of students with mild to severe disabilities in the regular education setting

o Evaluating the placement of students with disabilities in regular settings.

• Designs and implements professional development for emergency certified and probationary certified special education teachers.

• Assists in disaggregating trend data for students with disabilities on statewide assessments.

• Conducts professional development, as needed, with regards to inclusionary efforts in the district.

• Keeps abreast of current research and professional literature and meets with other professionals to exchange information about new practices.

• Adheres to the professional code of ethics.

• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

• Is familiar with and incorporates the use of technology in daily tasks.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
