Through our Pathways to Success model, Sociedad Latina pioneers new and innovative solutions to the most pressing issues facing Latine youth today, supporting positive youth development from age 11-21, creating a community that supports young people, and training all youth to advocate for themselves and their communities. Sociedad Latina's comprehensive, intensive array of programming builds skills in the following areas:
Education, Workforce Development, Civic Engagement, STEM and Arts & Culture. Sociedad Latina's youth programming offers young people a safe, nurturing environment that focuses on social-emotional skill development, builds positive relationships with caring adults, and promotes a positive cultural identity with the goal of supporting youth to grow into confident, competent, self-sustaining adults who are proud of their culture and language.

Sociedad Latina seeks a Mass Art student with a passion for youth work. The Artivism Educator Fellow will co-design and co-lead arts activities that intersect with social issues relevant to the lived experiences of young people at Sociedad Latina. The position's primary role will be to create and facilitate lessons, organize space, develop materials, and support program-related activities. This individual will support the implementation of visual art-related activities for a group of 10-15 young people ages 14-18, 3-4 workshops per month.

Experience/ Qualifications Include:

• Experience working with youth across the ages 14-18
• Previous experience with arts education preferred
• Previous experience and/or willingness to establish a positive learning environment with young people
• Previous experience and/or willingness to integrate activism and advocacy with visual arts projects
• Previous experience in and/or willingness to learn ELL / ESL support strategies
• Interpersonal and cultural sensitivity. An understanding and familiarity of Afro-Latine / Latine culture is preferred.
• Strong project planning skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
• Good communication and written skills
• Strong administrative and outreach skills

Weekly 30-minute check-in supervision meetings

• Scheduling is flexible during these times:
  Monday
  - Thursday, 3-8 PM.
• Mass Art students can work any hours during these times.
• 6-10hours/week (includes contact hours, planning, and set-up/clean up)

$15 / hour

This position is part of the Partnership WORKS program offered through Mass Art's Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP). If you are hired for this position you will become a member of the team at your community site AND a member of the CACP student cohort. You will have two supervisors, one through your host site and a second through CACP.
