Asthe
Northern Arizona Science and Engineering Fair Director
,you will work with theNAZSEF Committeetoplan and implement a Northern Arizona Science and Engineering Fair.
We are looking fora candidate based in Northern Arizonawithevent planningandproject management skills,an interest in expanding opportunities for students to do scientific research,anability to coordinate with multiple partners, andgoodcommunicationskills.
The successful candidate should have strongorganizationalskills to take ownership of and initiative in their work.
Abilityto collaborate with others isa must!
Responsibilities
- Have an understanding and awareness of science fair rules,logistics, and ethics
- Work to recruit participants from a wide geographic diversity (Coconino,Yavapai, and Mohave Counties)
- Manage all official Fair communication (emails to schools, teachers, parents, information posted on website)
- Send monthly updates to the committee and teacher/coordinator/parent/admin list
- Create and curate a teacher/coordinator/parent/admin email list
- Schedule andfacilitatemonthly committee meetings
- Create andmaintaina basic website with event details
- Manage scheduling and registration process
- Manage all event logistics(venue, operations, etc.)
- Coordinate fundraising efforts with support of committee
- Recruit, train, and assign volunteers and judges with support of a judge coordinator
- Ensure a smooth Awards Ceremony and prize distribution
- Provide results and logistic information to parents/students/teachers, andtheAZSEFteamin a timely mannerto ensure students who qualify can go on to the state science fair.
- Occasional travel to community partners (10% travel time)
Basic Requirements
Must pass a Pima County fingerprint clearance.
Compensation and Time
Independent contractor position is $3,300.Travel is included in the stipend.
