Position Summary

Whitehall District Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and competent educator who aspires to be an instructional leader and child advocate. This individual will join a dedicated team focused on improving outcomes for students with disabilities and believes that all students have the potential to achieve. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in evidence-based instructional practices, differentiated instruction, and strategies to support students with a wide range of learning, behavioral, and developmental needs.

This person can articulate a vision for student success and has a passion for helping students exceed their goals. The ideal candidate will also excel at building supportive relationships with students, colleagues, and families while fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and families while collaborating to develop plans that are in the best interest of students.
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources to inform instruction, monitor progress, and develop meaningful student goals.
  • Provide specialized instruction aligned to each student’s individual needs.
  • Develop and share a strong vision for student success with colleagues.
  • Use innovative technology to enhance student learning.
  • Partner with general education teachers to implement effective inclusive practices that benefit all students.
  • Work collaboratively with building leaders and support staff to create an optimal learning environment.
  • Establish a structured, positive, and safe classroom environment utilizing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Develop compliant, timely, organized, and collaborative Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Communicate student progress and promote student success within the school community.
Education and Experience
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
  • Experience supporting students with learning disabilities, behavioral, or communication needs preferred.
