Academic Engagement Associate

The Academic Engagement Associate plays a key role in facilitating programs and fostering dialogue that advances the Haggerty Museum of Art’s pedagogic role at Marquette University. They work with higher education faculty from across all academic areas, including Nursing, Theology, History, English, Philosophy, Business, to customize class sessions at the museum, enabling deep, multi‑disciplinary academic use of the Haggerty Museum of Art’s collections and exhibitions.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Maintain meaningful relationships with Marquette University faculty members and center directors whose work/interests align with Haggerty exhibitions and programs. Working with the Chief Curator, establish and maintain partnerships with university departments. Regularly communicate with Marquette faculty through meetings, by producing and distributing a faculty e-newsletter, and other means as needed.
  • Collaborate with Marquette faculty to lead and coordinate tours and design class sessions to take place at the Haggerty Museum of Art, highlighting Museum exhibitions or collections relevant to course goals. In support of this, coordinate with:
    Collections Manager and Preparator on any collection research or viewing;
    Chief Curator on exhibition‑related tours;
    Operations team on set‑up or A/V needs; and with other staff and University partners as needed. Manage class visits on shared museum calendars.
  • Working with the Chief Curator, collaborate with Marquette faculty on developing and implementing curricula, syllabi, and print and online learning resources that integrate the museum’s collections and exhibitions with Marquette University courses. Working in collaboration with the Chief Curator, develop and implement in‑gallery interpretive tools to strengthen the engagement of university faculty and students with the museum’s collections and exhibitions.
  • Partner with the Center for Teaching and Learning, Marquette GROW programs, and individual departments on faculty and leadership development opportunities focused on object‑based teaching and learning experiences, especially those aligned with Ignatian Pedagogy.
