Substitute Teaching Assistants

The Liverpool Central School District offers rewarding opportunities for individuals seeking employment in a collaborative, student-centered environment. Our district serves students from kindergarten through grade 12 and is organized into four quadrants, each consisting of K-2 elementary schools, grades 3-5 elementary schools, and grades 6-8 middle schools, in addition to Liverpool High School (grades 9-12).

We are seeking dependable, flexible, and caring individuals to join our team of substitute Teaching Assistants. Substitute Teaching Assistants play an important role in supporting classroom instruction, assisting students, and helping to maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Successful completion of the district's screening and hiring process
  • Fingerprint clearance through the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • Follow the direction of the classroom teacher and/or building administrator.
  • Support individual students and small groups with instructional activities as directed.
  • Reinforce classroom instruction and assist students in the use of instructional materials and technology.
  • Help prepare classroom materials and learning resources.
  • Provide supervision of students during classroom and school activities.
  • Assist teachers in fostering the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students.
  • Support students with personal care needs, including toileting, diapering, feeding, wheelchair positioning, and other activities of daily living, as assigned.
  • Observe and communicate relevant information regarding student progress or concerns to the supervising teacher.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding students, families, and district personnel in accordance with district policies and applicable laws.
