OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:The Adjunct faculty member is responsible for facilitating online nursing courses that meet the quality and standards set forth by the accrediting bodies and American Sentinel College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Post University under the guidance of the Program Chair /Assistant /Associate Dean and the Dean of the Nursing Programs.
ORGANIZATIONAL DIMENSIONS OF JOB:This position works with the Program Chair/Assistant/Associate Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Programs and the Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Programs to maintain curriculum integrity, promote optimum learning opportunities for students, and foster a rich online environment for the students.
JOB KNOWLEDGE ANDEXPERIENCE:
- Education:
Doctoral degree in public health or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred; a master’s degree in public health or a related field appropriate to the assigned teaching discipline is required. - Academic and Subject-Matter Preparation:
Academic preparation, professional experience, and demonstrated subject-matter expertise must be appropriate to the course(s) assigned. - Professional
Experience:
Relevant professional experience in public health, population health, healthcare, community health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy and management, environmental health, social and behavioral sciences, or other related public health disciplines is preferred. - Teaching
Experience:
Experience teaching in a college or university setting, including online and/or competency-based education, is preferred. - Scholarly and Professional Engagement:
Faculty are expected to demonstrate the preparation and promise of scholarly and/or professional work as described in the faculty section of the Faculty Handbook. - Licensure and Certification:
Professional licensure or certification is required when applicable to the faculty member’s discipline or assigned teaching responsibilities.
General Requirements
- Provide all necessary documentation (curricula vitae, official transcripts, etc.) to support teaching credentials.
- Have complete familiarity with American Sentinel academic policies.
- Review and abide by the Faculty Handbook.
- Actively participate in regular American Sentinel faculty meetings and other governance activities when available.
- Actively participate in American Sentinel or other faculty training programs when requested.
- Provide updates to curriculum vitae and other photographic, video, or textual biographical material and agree to their use on American Sentinel websites and other public materials.
- Provide copies of any licenses or certifications annually (or when renewed).
- Provide regular updates to American Sentinel about other teaching assignments, research and publications, professional development, or academic activities.
