POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Applied Linguistics in the College of the Liberal Arts seeks a visionary administrator to direct its Intensive English Communication Program (IECP). The Director will provide daily oversight of program operations; model and facilitate excellence in program communications; cultivate a transformative academic environment; develop and oversee recruitment efforts; hire, train, review and foster professional development of faculty and staff;
and represent the IECP on campus and within the profession. The Director of the IECP reports directly to the Head of the Department of Applied Linguistics. As a member of the graduate faculty, the Director is eligible to teach a 1‑0 course load in Applied Linguistics and to serve on graduate committees.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD or EdD in Teaching English as a Second Language (T.E.S.L.), Applied Linguistics or related field is required by appointment date.
- Experience in IEP program administration.
- Teaching experience in an intensive English or academic English preparation program in a college or university setting.
- Record of on‑going professional development.
- Demonstrated successful program assessment and development.
- Outstanding professional, cross‑cultural communication and interpersonal skills.
This is a full‑time twelve‑month academic professional position.
A start date of January 2027 is preferred; however, this start date may be negotiated with the successful candidate. Salary is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and the personal characteristics required of a demanding and significant role in administrative leadership. This position is Open Rank and will be filled at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor.
