The Associate Director of Admissions supports the overall J.D. recruitment and enrollment efforts at Southwestern Law School. This position engages in direct outreach to prospective students through a variety of channels, including informational fairs, on-campus and virtual events, counseling sessions, LSAC Forums, and phone and email communications.

The Associate Director also contributes to Southwestern’s broader recruitment strategy through event planning, pipeline programming, and outreach to pre-law advisors and organizations. In collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Department, the Associate Director assists with copywriting, editing, proofreading, and content selection for recruitment communications, website content, social media, and other marketing materials.

Additionally, the Associate Director supports institutional reporting and enrollment operations by providing applicant data and working with Information Technology to facilitate accurate and efficient data exchange across departments.

The Associate Director reviews a substantial number of applications submitted to Southwestern and makes recommendations for admissions.

This position serves as the primary admissions liaison for the Online J.D. program and works closely with the Online Education Department to support the recruitment, admission, and matriculation of Online J.D. students.

Primary Responsibilities:

Online J.D. Admissions Efforts
  • Conduct targeted recruitment of prospective students who have completed online degree programs and those residing in geographic areas underserved by law schools.
  • Conduct one-on-one recruitment meetings and advising sessions.
  • Plan and host virtual and in-person recruitment events for prospective Online J.D. students.
  • Analyze application trends and identify target markets for focused recruitment initiatives.
  • Participate in application review and informational interviews for Online J.D. applicants.
  • Respond to phone, email, and other inquiries regarding the Online J.D. program.
General Admissions Duties:
  • Advise prospective law students, applicants, transfer applicants, and visiting students regarding legal education, Southwestern’s admissions process, and general financial aid and scholarship information.
  • Counsel admitted students as they prepare to matriculate, including guidance related to seat deposits, housing, orientation, registration, and other transition matters.
  • Represent Southwestern at in-person and virtual recruitment events, including law school fairs, graduate school fairs, community events, LSAC Forums, undergraduate institution visits, pre-law society programs, and Southwestern-hosted events.
  • Counsel prospective and admitted students regarding their educational, professional, and career goals and help them understand the opportunities available through Southwestern Law School.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Southwestern’s academic programs, concentrations, admissions requirements, financial aid resources, student life, career services, experiential learning opportunities, and related services.
  • Attend national, regional, and local recruitment events and independently coordinate related travel arrangements while adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Draft, revise, and maintain applicant communications within the Unite database environment.
  • Process and communicate admissions and scholarship decisions, including waitlist and denial notifications, as needed.
  • Maintain prospective student and applicant records and ensure data integrity and accuracy for recruitment, reporting, and compliance purposes.
  • Provide operational and managerial support under the direction of the Associate Dean for Admissions and supervise staff and student employees as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3-5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
