Vanderbilt University - Mellon Assistant Professor in the History of Empire

The Department of History at Vanderbilt University seeks a Mellon Assistant Professor in the History of Empire starting Fall 2027. This non-tenure-track position is for a three-year term with a 2-2 teaching load. The department is especially interested in candidates who have innovative research agendas in British, French, Spanish, Dutch and or/Portuguese empires, circa . The successful candidate will teach a course in global history and also contribute electives on empire that support one or both of our vibrant interdisciplinary majors:
Law, History, and Society and Economics and History. All faculty in the History Department teach classes at all levels of the curriculum, from introductrory lectures to majors' seminars, participate in the A&S college Core, and serve in an advisory capacity for honors students and undergraduate majors.

Applicants must have received their Ph.D in history no more than four years prior to the start of the position and must have their degree in hand by August 1, 2027. Candidates must have evidence of teaching experience.
