Job Description
Job Summary:
The Department of Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Kearney invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor. The Assistant Professor appointment is tenure-track.
The Social Work program is committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, scholarship, community engagement, and meaningful faculty-student interactions. The BSW degree is offered in both on-campus and fully online formats and serves more than 130 students. Candidates whose research and/or practice interests broaden the department’s expertise and who have experience working with diverse student populations are especially encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Both ranks include teaching undergraduate courses in online and face-to-face formats, participating in student recruitment and advisement, serving on departmental and university committees, and contributing to program development and assessment.
Assistant Professor- Teaches three courses per semester and is expected to maintain an active program of research and scholarship and attain graduate faculty status.
- Teaches four courses per semester. Research and graduate faculty status are not required.
Assistant Professor
- Doctorate in Social Work or a related field and an MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution; advanced ABD candidates may be considered.
- Minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience.
- Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited institution.
- Minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience
Lecturer
- Previous teaching experience or professional experience relevant to teaching.
- Experience teaching diverse student populations in varied formats; demonstrated commitment to research and publication; and effective collaboration skills
