Job Description

The Target Hiring Range for this position is: $150,000-$160,000

The Senate Sergeant at Arms (SAA) is seeking an experienced, mission‑driven Manager to lead the development and delivery of training programs that enable Senate staff to understand and effectively use the available tools, systems, and operational processes essential to their roles. This is a unique opportunity to shape how staff learn to navigate and leverage the tools, technologies, and processes that help offices operate effectively and efficiently.

This role will build and manage a comprehensive operational training portfolio, oversee a team of technical instructors, and develop scalable learning solutions that help offices operate smoothly, efficiently, and consistently. This includes live workshops, digital learning, practical guides, and process‑focused training resources.

The person in this position will need a builder’s mindset, strong project management and leadership skills, and the ability to convert complex or evolving technologies into accessible, practical learning experiences that can meet the evolving demands of an institution with national significance and impact. You will partner with stakeholders across Senate offices, committees, and support organizations to identify needs, anticipate changes, and adapt programming to meet the evolving demands of the Senate environment.

Strong candidates will bring experience designing and scaling programs in dynamic settings, along with the ability to translate technical or procedural complexity into clear, actionable guidance. The ideal candidate also has a demonstrated ability to anticipate and respond to emerging technologies and operational shifts, ensuring training programs remain relevant, forward‑looking, and resilient in a rapidly changing environment. Accountabilities/Essential

Job Duties
  • Leads and directs a team of technical training specialists to deliver operational and system‑based training for Senate staff, including prioritizing work, assigning tasks, coaching staff, and evaluating performance.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive operational training programs and learning resources that support effective use of office tools, technologies, and systems essential to daily Senate operations.
  • Collaborates with Senate offices and committees, and supports the Senate community to assess training needs, identify operational challenges, and design learning solutions that enhance the Senate community’s effectiveness.
  • Oversees the creation and delivery of instructor‑led workshops, digital learning modules, user guides, and job aids that translate complex technical and operational processes into clear, accessible instruction.
  • Coordinates training initiatives to ensure alignment with emerging technologies, system updates, and operational changes, enabling staff to adapt effectively to evolving tools and workplace requirements.
