82nd Street Academics is looking for part-time teacher assistants for our Summer Programs in 2026. These positions will be at different campuses, including Renaissance Charter Schools 1 and 2, PS280, and our main site in Jackson Heights. Teacher Assistants work with students across elementary, middle, and high school grade levels. During summer 2026, we are launching multiple programs across July and August.

We design high-quality summer enrichment programs with arts and crafts, sports and recreation, field trips, leadership opportunities, performances, and more.

We are hiring for different positions:

  • Location 1:
    The hours are 8 - 6 PM, split into two shifts on Monday through Friday.
  • Location 2:
    The hours are 3 - 6 PM on Monday through Thursday, and full day from 8 - 6 PM on Fridays.
  • Location 3:
    The hours are 2 - 5 PM on Monday through Thursday, and full day from 8 - 6 PM on Fridays.
  • We are planning to begin trainings for this summer position during June 2026.
  • Our summer programs will run from early July through mid-August.
  • The pay rate is $18 per hour.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support student participation in high-quality programming with the guidance of the Lead Teachers and Site Director.
  • Serve as role models for students.
  • Monitor attendance and use engagement strategies to increase daily attendance.
  • Adhere to policies on attendance and punctuality, dress code, and setting a tone of respect in interactions with students, colleagues, families, and staff.
  • Communicate with families about any concerns and provide excellent partnership management in the school community.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
  • Plan towards college graduation (required)
  • At least one year of experience working with the students in a professional setting
  • Commitment to the program through the middle of August is a non-negotiable requirement
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish (preferred)
Demonstrated Abilities
  • Readiness to learn and grow as a professional.
  • Knowledge of best practices in working with students in a school setting and/or an extracurricular setting.
  • Strong communication abilities and organization skills.
  • Creativity for problem-solving and supporting students in different situations.
  • Skills with taking initiative to implement positive change in the face of challenges.
