Berman Hebrew Academy is growing and expanding our Middle School Judaic Studies program for the 2026–27 academic year.

Berman Hebrew Academy is a warm, inclusive Modern Orthodox, co-educational day school in Rockville, MD, serving students from Early Childhood through 12th Grade on one beautiful campus.

Rooted in Torah and committed to academic excellence in both General and Judaic Studies, our school fosters religious growth, intellectual curiosity, and strong character development. We cultivate a culture of respect, responsibility, and derech eretz, and nurture a deep love for and commitment to the land and State of Israel—its history, culture, people, and language.

Position Overview

We are seeking passionate and knowledgeable Judaic Studies educators who can cultivate strong text skills, religious growth, and a love of Torah learning in our students. The ideal candidate is committed to meaningful Torah education, collaborative professional practice, and the development of students’ middot alongside their academic skills.

Responsibilities

Middle School Judaic Studies teachers are expected to:

Teach a full-time course load (five courses) or part-time load (three courses).

Design and deliver rigorous, engaging instruction in Judaic Studies, building students’ text skills and depth of understanding.

Support students’ religious growth and foster thoughtful engagement with Torah learning.

Provide timely grading and meaningful feedback to students and families.

Foster a positive, supportive classroom culture that promotes growth in learning, middot, and responsibility.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment.

Participate actively in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.

Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal, including supervision duties such as lunch or recess.

Participate in tefillah as part of the school day.

Professional Environment & Support

New teachers are paired with a mentor/coach to support classroom management, instructional practice, and school procedures.

New faculty participate in monthly cohort meetings to support successful integration into the Berman community.

The school day runs from 8:15 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; teachers are expected to be on campus during their contracted hours.

Qualifications

Strong background in Judaic Studies and text-based learning.

Demonstrated commitment to religious growth and student development.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Alignment with the mission and values of Berman Hebrew Academy.

Compensation

Salary range: $50,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience and education.
