The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible to provide an appropriate educational atmosphere which encourages positive student learning and to participate in a dynamic setting with other classroom teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists and other staff members in the development and implementation of the school’s programs and goals.
- The Kindergarten school teacher is responsible for creating a welcoming classroom environment.
- The Kindergarten teacher prepares younger students for future education by teaching them vital subjects, such as religion, reading, science, social studies, and mathematics.
- The teacher also helps students develop critical thinking skills, learn to solve problems and understand abstract ideas.
- The teacher must engage students in learning, and teach students how to study, communicate and work with others.
- The teacher develops and enforces classroom rules to teach proper behavior, as well.
- The candidate must to be creative as well as patient, and plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lessons plans, preparing class projects, giving feedback on completed work to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner.
- Maintains all required record keeping, lesson planning, and other duties while maintaining confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and other school matters.
- Communicates with parents on a regular basis regarding assignments, events and individual student needs.
- Collaborates as a team player with teaching colleagues and administration.
- Has the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with parents, students, and co-workers.
- Works is performed under the supervision of the principal. All duties, schedules and responsibilities are assigned by the principal.
- Participates in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and in the school-sponsored professional development programs.

- Works with administrators and instructional teams to plan and implement hands-on lesson plans for students.
- Diagnoses and analyzes for the purpose of providing appropriate instruction.
- Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students.
- Assess student progress in accordance with the approved procedures of the Diocese of Orlando;
- Utilizes classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate.
- Participates in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and in the school-sponsored professional development programs.
- Cooperates with the principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities and projects.
- Maintains accurate student academic records and attendance records.
- Maintains a safe, orderly and secure learning and working environment.
- Participates in the performance review based upon the implementation of the general responsibilities of a professional educator in a school.
- Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
- Maintains professional relationship between school and parents.
- Maintains contact with parents through parent-teacher conferences, telephone, or written communications. Encourages parental involvement through school activities, connecting home and school.
- Maintains all records as required, including but not limited to grade books, attendance records and student progress reports. Assists in the protection of student and school property.
- Keeps up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Diocese Catholic Schools.
